Teaching Philosophy:
We strive to provide a quality education along with special emphasis on performance skill and showmanship. We care about your child’s self esteem! It is important to us that students leave our studio after each class feeling good about themselves and what they have accomplished.
Class Information
Student’s placement is by age and level of expertise. Students progress at different levels, and dancing with your “friends” may not always be what is best for you. Please trust our judgment when is comes to the placement of your child. Their best interest is our main concern.
There are observation windows in each classroom. Parents and special visitors are welcome to observe class through these windows. Parents and visitors are not allowed in the classroom unless invited for special observations.
Students are expected to come to class in appropriate dancewear. Instructors must be able to see the dancer’s body lines in order to ensure correct alignment and prevent injury. You may choose the style and color of leotards, biketards, tutus ... a list will be posted at the studio to let you know which shoes are needed for your classes. If you have questions, please check with your instructor or at the front desk. We also recycle dance shoes that are in good condition. Check with the front desk if you are interested in purchasing or selling a good pair of shoes. Make sure all of your child’s shoes and bags are labeled with their names.
Performances
The studio presents formal recitals every year based on a creative theme. The recitals feature the accomplishments of each class. Performing is a necessary and important part of a student’s dance training. We pride ourselves in our professional and smooth running shows.
Each class performs one routine in the recital. Students taking combination classes will perform one type of dance, chosen by their instructor. All students are also welcome to participate in the final curtain call.
The opening number will be a production number put on by our Dance Troupe.
As a general rule, there will be no student solos in our recital. Exceptions may be made for special circumstances or for graduating seniors that are members of our Dance Troupe. Advanced students interested in competing in solo competition should schedule private classes at registration. There will be other opportunities for solo performing for these students.
We encourage performing and see it as an important part of our training. Our Dance Troupe will put on a Christmas performance at Georgetown’s Christmas Stroll and at our own Breakfast with Santa.. Other classes are given the opportunity to perform at the Red Poppy Festival, nursing homes, Fourth of July, along with other community events.
Registration
A registration/recital fee of $50.00 per student or $60.00 per family is due upon registration. This fee covers technical expenses of our recital (rental of the facility, lighting, audio, programs, scenery...) as well as annual bookkeeping expenses. This fee is non-refundable. Each family receives 2 complimentary tickets to their recital performance. Additional tickets may be purchased for $5.00 each at the time of the recital.
Tuition
The tuition for classes that are 45 minutes to 1 hour is $55.00 per month. Additional family members receive $5.00 per class discount. Additional dance classes taken by the same student will be at half tuition. Private lessons for advanced students only are $100.00 per month for 30 minutes per week. Tuition is not pro-rated for absences and we do encourage that any missed classes be made up. Check with your instructor for times.
First and last month tuition is due at registration.
Tuition is based on the total number of classes in the dance year. This amount is divided into 9 equal payments and is due by the 10th of each month. Therefore, tuition remains the same for each month of the year. We observe the G.I.S.D. school calendar and are closed on school holidays with the exception of teacher workdays. Tuition is considered late after the 10th of the month and a $15.00 fee will be added to the tuition. A 30 day notice is required if a student is dropping a class.
A costume deposit fee of $40.00 per student is due on Sept. 1st. Once costumes have been ordered, you are responsible for the balance due. If your plans don’t include participating in the year end recital, please notify our front desk before December 1st.
Important FLU Precautions:
At this time we are closely following all recommendations by the state regarding the current concerns over the Swine Flu.
We will be using Lysol on a daily basis to clean doors and cubby areas.
We will be asking all students to wash their hands before and after class and we have antibacterial gel available in all of the classrooms
If you have a fever or symptoms please do not come to class
If GISD makes a decision to close schools, then we will also close the studio. In the event that this should happen, we will do everything we can to make up the classes. Hopefully it will not get to this point, but if it does - stay tuned to your emails for information and instructions.
Thanks for your help in taking these preventative measures
